GoAnywhere Modules Available to License Fortra's GoAnywhere is a robust and complete managed file transfer solution. Augmenting its capabilities are Modules that can satisfy an even broader array of file transfer requirements. You can choose to license and pay for only the modules you currently need, and easily unlock additional modules, if necessary. ADVANCED WORKFLOWS The Advanced Workflows Module is used when you are initiating the transfer (push/pull), if PGP encryption/decryption is needed, if data needs to be pulled from or uploaded to a database, and if additional actions in a workflow need to be called before/after a file exchange. GoAnywhere MFT includes more than 60 built-in tasks for performing a wide variety of business processes. This includes tasks to retrieve and distribute files, transform data, encrypt/decrypt files, compress/decompress files and interact with databases. Other tasks can be used to call native commands, execute programs, send emails, search and replace file contents and more. You can also build your own custom tasks to use within Projects. This is especially helpful if you need to perform special processing or connect to ERP systems and other applications using proprietary interfaces. Multiple tasks can be "chained" together within a Project to perform a series of steps. For example, a Project could be defined with a task to retrieve an XML file from a trading partner, then another task to parse the XML and finally a task to import the data into a database table. Built-in Tasks include: -Compression (inc Zip, UnZip, GZip, GUnzip, Tar, Untar) -Database (SQL statements supported by the database server) -Data Translation (inc CSV, Excel, Fixed-Width, Flat File, XML, JSON, RowSet) -Email & SMS -File System -File Transfer -Integration (IBM I, Native Commands, SSH commands, ICAP, SNMP Trap) -Job Control (Calls to Modules and Projects, If/Else Conditionals, Timing, Error logging etc) -Loops (Do-While, For-Each, Iterate, While etc) -Miscellaneous (Base64, Deny Trigger Event, Print, Secure Form Response, Set Variable, Timestamp) -Message Queue (Send, Retrieve, Commit, Rollback etc) -PGP (Encryption, Decryption, Sign, Verify) -Project (Comment, Import, Modules, Variables) -Reports (>20 customisable Reports) -Web Services (JWT, SOAP, REST) SFTP SERVER The SFTP Server Module handles the server side of an SFTP transfer. Your partner connects to you via SFTP and initiates the transfer. An SFTP server provides a way for organisations to securely exchange sensitive files over a network. SFTP helps ensure data integrity and security by using encryption and authentication during the file transfer process. GoAnywhere MFT, an enterprise-level file transfer solution, allows your trading partners to securely exchange files with your organisation using SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) and SCP (Secure Copy) protocols. The solution also supports the latest SSH 2.0 protocol standard and allows for both password and SSH key authentication. An encrypted tunnel is created between the SFTP server in GoAnywhere MFT and any trading partners, which protects all data, user ids, passwords and commands that flow over the connection. Secure FTP is critical for compliance with PCI DSS, HIPAA, HITECH, SOX and state privacy laws. Through GoAnywhere’s SFTP client, organisations can exchange files between their local system and a remote server, with data encrypted via the SSH protocol. SFTP Server Features: -Highly scalable with no restrictions on the number of trading partners. -Support for multiple listeners with configurable port numbers -Remote administration and monitoring through a browser-based interface -Robust security and granular permission controls -Multiple authentication methods; database, Active Directory (AD), LDAP and IBM i -Administrators can view active sessions for logged-in users -Event triggers to automatically process files or send email notifications -Support for client requests to resume file transfers -Configurable settings for maximum number of sessions, maximum login failures and idle timeouts -ZLIB compression to reduce bandwidth requirements -Ability to accept or reject files with certain extensions -Allows only strong NIST-certified encryption algorithms when in FIPS 140-2 Compliance mode -Can be installed in the private network without opening inbound ports, when paired with GoAnywhere Gateway in the DMZ SFTP Logging Audit trails (logs) are generated for all SFTP and SCP sessions in GoAnywhere MFT to meet auditing and compliance requirements. This detail includes: -commands issued -messages -IP addresses -user ids -file names transferred. Log messages can additionally be sent to a SYSLOG server using UDP or TCP connections. SSH Key Management Intuitive graphical screens are provided in GoAnywhere MFT to allow for the management of SSH Keys. This Key Manager can be used to create SSH public and private keys, import and export keys, and view keys. Both RSA and DSA key types are supported with key lengths up to 4096 bits. High Availability Planning with SFTP When it comes to file transfers, it’s critical that organisations are able to complete them without disruption. Businesses can choose from either active-passive and active-active high availability plans. -Active-passive plan failure downtime for trading partners can run from a few seconds to a few hours depending on how organisations start the passive system. -Active-active plan failure downtime is most commonly zero because there is always a backup system that can take over in a moment of system failure. These high availability plans can help organisations minimise and avoid downtime, meet SLAs, and increase user satisfaction. Standards Support for SFTP Server: -Protocol: SSH 2.0 -Ciphers: AES-128, AES-192, AES-256, Triple DES (DESede), Blowfish -MAC Algorithms: HMAC-SHA1, HMAC-SHA2-256, HMAC-MD5 -Key Exchange Algorithms: diffie-hellman-group1-sha1, diffie-hellman-group14-sha1, diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1, diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256 -Compression: ZLIB FTPS SERVER The FTPS Server Module handles the server side of a FTPS transfer. Your partner connects to you via FTPS and initiates the transfer. GoAnywhere MFT acts as FTPS software that allows your trading partners to securely exchange files with your organisation using FTPS (FTP over SSL/TLS) protocol. GoAnywhere MFT supports both implicit SSL and explicit SSL connection types. Dual factor authentication can be performed using user ids, passwords and certificates. An encrypted tunnel will be created between the FTPS server in GoAnywhere MFT and any trading partners, which will protect all data, user ids, passwords and commands that flow over the connection. Secure FTP is critical for compliance with many data privacy laws. FTPS Server Software Features: -No restrictions on the number of trading partners -Support for multiple listeners with configurable port numbers -Remote administration and monitoring through a browser-based interface -Robust security and granular permission controls -Multiple authentication methods; database, Active Directory (AD), LDAP, and IBM i -Administrators can view active sessions for logged-in users -Event triggers to automatically process files or send email notifications -Support for client requests to resume file transfers -Anonymous logins can be enabled or disabled -Custom welcome and logout messages -Authentication can be performed using self-signed and 3rd-party signed certificates -Configurable settings for maximum number of sessions, maximum login failures, and idle timeouts -Ability to accept or reject files with certain extensions -Allows only strong NIST-certified encryption algorithms when in FIPS 140-2 Copliance mode -Can be installed in the private network without opening inbound ports, when paired with GoAnywhere Gateway in the DMZ FTPS Logs Audit trails (logs) are generated for all FTPS sessions in GoAnywhere MFT to meet auditing and compliance requirements. This detail includes commands issued, messages, IP addresses, user ids and file names transferred. Log messages can additionally be sent to a SYSLOG server using UDP or TCP connections. X.509 Certificate Management The GoAnywhere MFT Certificate Manager allows authorised administrators to work with X.509 certificates. This Certificate Manager can be used to create certificates, generate CSRs, import CA replies, import trusted certificates, export and view certificates. GoAnywhere MFT can be utilised for exchanging files with HTTP servers (Web Sites). Connections can be made to both standard HTTP servers and secure HTTPS servers using SSL/TLS. HTTP(S) servers can be pre-defined in GoAnywhere MFT's Administrator as reusable Resources which can then be selected from simple drop down menus. HTTP Tasks can be placed within GoAnywhere MFT Projects and executed as part of a cohesive workflow process. For example, a Project could be defined to get a CSV file from a HTTPS server, read the data from the CSV file, and import the data into a database file. HTTP(S) Features in GoAnywhere MFT: -Cookies support -HTTP Redirects support -Perform requests with parameters -Download/upload multiple files per session -Filter files to download based on last modified date/time -Utilises only strong NIST-certified encryption algorithms when in FIPS 140-2 Compliance mode -Pass in variables (at runtime) to override HTTP(S) attributes AS2, AS3, & AS4 SEND/RECEIVE The AS2, AS3, & AS4 Send/Receive Module enables secure protocols that send and receive messages. AS2 supports the encryption of messages between trading partners and vendors via HTTPS. AS4 is an open B2B standard for exchanging secure documents between businesses using web services. Each protocol provides an extra layer of security through the use of digital signatures. AS2, AS3, and AS4 are licensed by number of partners. GoAnywhere is Drummond Certified, which is required by many businesses that exchange via AS2 and AS4. SECURITY DOMAINS The Security Domains Module makes it possible to virtually segment a GoAnywhere installation into multiple security zones. Every license includes two domains. More domains are useful if you want to manage file transfers and associated users in their own domain (by department for example). Admin Users can be authorised to specific Domains, in which those users can only work with the items belonging to those Domains. Examples of items that can be assigned to Domains are Resources, Projects, Schedules, Monitors, Triggers, Admin Users and Web Users. Each Domain can be configured with file access restrictions to prevent users from accessing restricted network locations. SECURE MAIL The Secure Mail Module allows your employees to send messages and files as secure "packages" on an ad-hoc basis. Recipients will get an email with a unique link to each package, allowing them to download the message and files through a secure HTTPS connection. This is a great alternative to regular email since there are no file size or file type restrictions. Secure Mail Features: -Secure Mail can be sent from within the user's browser or from Microsoft Outlook -Multiple files can be attached to a single package -No file size limitations or file type restrictions -Includes options to set expiration dates and maximum downloads -URL link for each package is randomly generated using a universally unique identifier (UUID) -Packages can additionally be secured using a system-generated or user-specified password -Recipients do not have to deal with keys or certificates -Files are transferred over a secure HTTPS connection -Sender can choose to receive notifications when packages are read -Sender can "recall" packages to make unavailable to recipients -Customisable templates allow rebranding messages with your own logo, colours, fonts, etc. -View audit trails of all package activity (e.g. when sent, when opened, when downloaded, etc.) GoAnywhere MFT is installed within your network, so your organisation will keep localised control over the Secure Mail settings, packages and audit trails. Files will remain on your system until they are downloaded by the recipients; the files are not hosted by a 3rd party. Your employees can authenticate against an existing Active Directory (AD), LDAP or IBM i system within your network. Five free Secure Mail users are included with every GoAnywhere license. Composing Emails Messages can be composed through the GoAnywhere MFT browser-based interface or by using the GoAnywhere Outlook Plugin. With the Outlook Plugin, the user would compose the message in Microsoft Outlook as normal. When ready to send, the user would click on the new "Send Secure Mail" button to pass the message through the GoAnywhere MFT Secure Mail module. Rules can be set to automatically use Secure Mail whenever the user sends large file attachments using the regular Outlook "Send" button. The Outlook plugin supports Kerberos Single Sign-on for easier adoption by your users. Email Notifications Each recipient of a Secure Mail package will receive a notification via email. The notification will show the message subject, a summary of the attachments and a link for downloading the files in the package. Secure Email Downloads When a recipient clicks on the link in the notification email, it will open the download page over secure HTTPS protocol. The user can then just click on the files to download or open. Secure Email Administration Secure Mail settings, packages and audit logs are managed within the GoAnywhere MFT browser-based administrator. To minimise disk space usage, GoAnywhere MFT can automatically purge packages when they expire or when they meet their maximum download count. ADVANCED REPORTING The Advanced Reporting Module gives you access to important system information as PDF documents. Easily generate reports of file transfer activity, user statistics, and completed jobs from within the console. Filter reports by date, user ID, and other criteria to gain insight into the information that matters to you, as either detailed or high-level summary reports, both available with informative charts and graphs. Alongside the built-in reports, custom reports can be created using data provided from a database, CSV, Excel, fixed-width, XML, or JSON files. Reports can either be run as needed, directly through the browser-based console, or scheduled and either distributed to the network or sent via email. GoDrive logs each time a file is uploaded, downloaded, edited, shared, commented on, and deleted. Scalability and High Availability Clustering provides scalability that allows GoDrive to support thousands of users while active-active maximises availability for mission critical file sharing. SECURE FORMS The Secure Forms Module (which requires Advanced Workflows) allows your end-users to fill out and submit information online through secure custom-made forms with one or more input values, optionally upload files through GoAnywhere's HTTPS Web Client, or submit forms online by making SOAP or REST requests from your custom built applications. When a form is submitted, a Project in GoAnywhere is executed to automatically process the submitted values and files. Use Secure Forms to control the data that end-users provide when submitting information. GoAnywhere administrators can define Secure Forms with: -Configurable input fields -Custom labels -File upload components When the Project processes the Secure Form, it can return a custom message and one or more output files to the user. A Secure Form can be specified to various intended languages. For example, two forms may be created that serve the same purpose, but one may be in French while the other is in English. GoAnywhere administrators can choose their preferred language in the Web Client, which will then only show forms that are applicable to the selected language. Secure Form Submission A Secure Form can be authorised to one or more Web Users, who must then log in through the Web Client to complete the form. Optionally, Secure Forms can be configured to allow anonymous users to access the form through a public URL. Secure Form Use Cases Secure Forms are used by organisations in all industries to streamline, centralise, and standardise information intake. Companies have used Secure Forms to reduce the number of ways in which files arrive (i.e., by fax, email, or other online submission), collect confidential information, and ensure data is delivered securely. In one example, Secure Forms are used to collect electronic voting ballots by prompting the user to enter their voting information and attach a scanned PDF. A Project workflow then automatically process and distribute this electronic ballot to the appropriate election official based on the voting information provided by the end-user within the Secure Form. Secure Forms Features: -Custom, fillable Secure Forms for either public or authenticated users -Flexible configuration and design options to control the position of form features such as buttons -Customise and control the input text, options, and dropdown fields with default values, tooltips, and placeholders -Projects that automate processing the Secure Form input data and, optionally, provide output messages and one or more files for users to download -Fully customisable Text Area components, including the ability to override the button labels, the characters remaining text, and the drop zone on File Upload components -Successful submission messages presented to users when Secure Forms are submitted -Drag and drop upload for files which are automatically secured with AES-256 bit encryption -Limit file upload parameters, including the file types that are permitted to upload, file size, and maximum number of files -Save drafts of Secure Forms to finish at a later date -View Secure Form submission history, including when the form was completed, the user who completed the form, the user’s responses, and more -Supports SOAP and RESTful Web Service APIs to allow you to submit forms from other applications AGENTS The Agents Module (which requires Advanced Workflows) enables lightweight applications that automate your file transfers and workflows on systems (both remote and on-premises) throughout your enterprise. The agents are managed by a central deployment of GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (MFT), which allows you to configure and schedule agent file transfers and business processes from an intuitive, browser-based interface. Agent Features: -Control agents remotely from the central server. -Process files on the agent or send them to GoAnywhere for further processing. -Deploy remote agents wherever they're needed: on a server, to a trading partner location, or in the cloud. -Automatically upgrade agents to the latest version without causing downtime. -Customise your software library of agent installers to fit the needs of your environment. How Agents Work When your file transfers execute, all log data is streamed from the agents (wherever they’re deployed) to GoAnywhere for consolidated auditing and reporting. This unique approach provides visibility into all the file transfers running within the organisation. MFT agents can be installed onto almost any server or workstation where file transfers or workflows need to be performed. This includes Windows, Linux, UNIX, IBM I, and Mac OS systems. For organisations who prefer to perform their file transfers in the cloud, GoAnywhere MFT supports the use of agents remotely in cloud infrastructure such as Amazon EC2 or Microsoft Azure. Agent Functionality Here are examples of what agents can do to assist your IT initiatives: -Automate and secure file transfers within a centrally managed environment -Monitor folders on agent systems for new or modified files -Schedule agent file transfers to run at future dates/times -Provide additional workflow capabilities such as compression, decompression, data parsing, database integration, PGP encryption and decryption, SFTP and SCP file transfers, and native command execution -Send email or text message alerts when agent file transfers fail -Feed audit data to GoAnywhere MFT for central reporting -Monitor location and status via an interactive agent map -Deploy automatic notifications if an agent goes offline Remote Agent Deployment After installing GoAnywhere MFT on your internal network, you can install Agents on specific servers or workstations within your network, at remote locations, and within cloud infrastructure that will automatically monitor folders, carry out file transfers, and synchronise concurrent workflows at various locations. 1- Agents in the Internal Network. Agents can be installed on servers or workstations in your network for transferring files from and to GoAnywhere and other systems for processing. The agents can perform additional workflows on the system where the agent is deployed such as copying files, running commands, or parsing data. 2- Agents at Remote Locations & "Retail Polling". Agents can be installed at remote locations to automatically monitor folders and transfer files on an automated basis. This "retail polling" feature is ideal for synchronising files between a corporate data centre and remote locations such as stores or branch offices. 3-Agents on Trading Partner Systems. Agents can be installed on servers owned by your trading partners. When a trading partner places a file in a folder which is monitored by the agent, GoAnywhere can automatically pull the file to your organisation's network. In turn, GoAnywhere can use those agent connections to push files to your trading partners. 4-Agents on Cloud Infrastructure. MFT agents can be installed on server instances within cloud infrastructure like Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure. These agents could be used to move files securely between the cloud and your internal network. GoAnywhere Gateway The GoAnywhere Gateway Module is a separate product and must be downloaded on its own. It is normally used if you licensed the server side of the transfer (SFTP, FTPS, Secure Folders, FTP) but it can also be used for outbound connections too. GoAnywhere MFT Gateway is an enhanced reverse proxy that resides out in the DMZ, routing server requests without having any ports open into the network. It can also load balance/cluster the file servers. -GoAnywhere’s MFT Gateway provides an additional layer of security when exchanging data with your trading partners. It allows you to keep file sharing services (e.g. FTP/S, SFTP, HTTP/S servers) and documents safely in your private/internal network. With GoAnywhere’s Secure File Gateway, no inbound ports need to be opened into your private network, which is essential for compliance with PCI DSS, HIPAA, HITECH, SOX, GLBA and state privacy laws. -MFT Gateway Features -GoAnywhere’s secure file gateway provides the extra layer of protection for your file sharing services by… -Not allowing incoming ports to be opened into the private network, which reduces the risk of intrusion -Not storing sensitive data files in the DMZ -Keeping user credentials, certificates, and keys safely in the private network -Supporting FTP/S, SFTP, SCP, HTTP/S and AS2 file transfer protocols -Hiding the locations and identities of internal systems -Not requiring any special hardware components; it is a software-only solution. Why use GoAnywhere MFT Gateway as Your Proxy Gateway: 1- Secure Inbound ports to your network: Your file servers (e.g., FTPS, SFTP, HTTPS, and AS2) can be kept securely in your internal network with GoAnywhere's secure file gateway. This allows you to keep inbound ports to your network closed, which is essential for complying with data security standards. 2- Keep critical data out of the DMZ: Files can be safely shared with trading partners, users, clients, and vendors while avoiding having critical documents or files stored, even temporarily, in your DMZ. 3- Connect with external systems securely: As a forward proxy, Gateway can make connections to external systems on behalf of users and applications in the private network. This allows you to more easily manage file transfers from your firewall. Additionally, the identities and locations of your internal systems are hidden for better security. 4- Run on any environment or operating system: GoAnywhere Gateway is a platform agnostic, software-only secure file gateway solution. Install it on Windows, Linux, AIX, UNIX, or other operating systems to enhance file security in whatever environment works best for you. GoAnywhere Gateway Features At-A-Glance: -No incoming ports need to be opened into the private network -User credentials, permissions, certificates, and keys are kept safe in the private network -Hides the locations and identities of internal systems -Services configurations are maintained/stored in the private network -Supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, SCP, HTTP, HTTPS and AS2 file transfer protocols -Built-in load balancer to distribute workloads across multiple systems In essence, when added to GoAnywhere MFT, GoAnywhere Gateway serves as a transparent interface between internal systems and external systems without exposing sensitive files or your private network. CLOUD CONNECTORS The Cloud Connectors Module (which requires Advanced Workflows) enables built-in integrations that seamlessly support the automation of data between web and cloud applications and your GoAnywhere MFT projects and workflows. Cloud Connectors, also known as cloud integrations, are built-in web and cloud application integrations that connect to your GoAnywhere MFT projects and workflows. GoAnywhere Cloud Connectors offer a variety of use-cases and benefits if your organisation connects with external apps. We offer out-of-the-box connectors for popular services including Salesforce, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Box, and Dropbox. How Cloud Connectors Work Once a Cloud Connector is installed, you can configure the connection properties as a GoAnywhere Resource. With this resource, you only need to specify the connection once before being able to seamlessly reuse it in any of your workflows and cloud file transfers. Your Cloud Connector definition contains all the actions required to communicate with cloud applications. In GoAnywhere, these actions appear as elements located under the Cloud Connector in the GoAnywhere Project Designer. Elements can be incorporated into your workflows alongside other project tasks. GoAnywhere supports a great many cloud application integrations, so you can automate your processes between multiple web and cloud services at once. -Alibaba Object Storage Service -Amazon Cloud Trail -Amazon CloudWatch -Amazon EC2 -Amazon ECS -Amazon Lambda -Amazon SNS -Amazon SQS -Atlassian JIRA -Automate Plus -Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1 (superseded by the -Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 connector) -Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 -Azure Storage Queue -Box -Citrix ShareFile -Dropbox -Egnyte -GateScanner CDR -GoAnywhere Command -Google Cloud Storage -Google Drive -Google Translate -JAMS -Jenkins -Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central -Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM -Microsoft OneDrive -Microsoft Sharepoint Online -Microsoft Sharepoint On-Premise -OPSWAT MetaDefender -Salesforce -ServiceNow -SMA OpCon Scheduler -SOS Berlin JobScheduler (online version not supported) -Trello -Veeva CRM -Votiro -Webdocs -Zendesk (online version not supported) ote: Cloud Connectors can integrate with available on-premise and online versions of third-party software unless otherwise noted. Current GoAnywhere customers can access the Cloud Connector Marketplace by logging into their admin interface in GoAnywhere, then navigating to System > Add-Ons and click "Browse Marketplace." GoFast GoFast is a file transfer acceleration protocol in GoAnywhere that can transmit data considerably faster than traditional FTP. The high transfer rate in GoFast is achieved by using lightweight UDP (User Datagram Protocol) channels to broadcast data packets between the client and server. UDP is much faster than TCP based protocols like FTP and SFTP since it does not have the inherent time delays for acknowledging and synchronising data packets. UDP has traditionally been used for streaming content that requires high throughput, such as live video and audio. GoFast has also harnessed the efficiency of UDP while providing innovative methods to guarantee the delivery and quality of data transmissions. How GoFast Works Before files are transferred, a secure SSL/TLS control channel is first established over TCP between the GoFast server and client. This control channel can be authenticated with user credentials, as well as X.509 client and server certificates. After authentication, commands are sent over the control channel to indicate details about the transmission such as the file names and sizes, encryption ciphers and compression settings. Files are then broken into multiple parts and transferred over UDP data channels between the GoFast client and server. The part sizes can be adjusted to optimise speeds based on the reliability of the network. The file parts are automatically reassembled on the destination and saved to the designated folder locations. Guaranteed Delivery If any parts of a file do not reach the destination successfully, the sender will be instructed to retransmit those missing parts until the entire file is received. To further guarantee the integrity of the transmission, checksums (hashes) can be calculated on both the GoFast client and server for the files transferred. The files can be automatically resent if the client and server file checksums do not match. Encryption A GoFast session can be configured to use AES encryption for protecting data packets, which is important when sending confidential files over the internet or other unsecured networks. AES is a popular encryption standard and is approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for protecting top secret information. If you are transmitting data over protected networks, you can disable encryption to further optimise transfer speeds. Compression File parts can optionally be compressed with the ZLIB standard to minimise the amount of bandwidth utilised by GoFast transmissions. Nine different compression levels are supported, which can be selected by the administrator at the time of transmission. Additional Features of Accelerated File Transfer: -Schedule GoFast file transfers to run automatically -Send and retrieve multiple files per GoFast session -Auto-retry failed connections with user-specified thresholds -Auto-resume failed transmissions when the server becomes available -Encrypt data packets with AES-128, AES-192 and AES-256 bit ciphers -Verify integrity with MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA384 and SHA512 hash algorithms -Suffix and prefix file names with constants, timestamps or variables -Override file names and other properties at execution time using variables -Auto rename files if they already exist at the destination location -Configure port ranges used by the GoFast server -Send alerts for transfer failures via email, text messages and system messages -Log all GoFast file transfers in a central database for auditing and reporting. GoFast Workflows GoFast server connections can be pre-defined in GoAnywhere MFT's Administrator as reusable Resources which can be selected from simple drop-down menus. GoFast Tasks can be placed within GoAnywhere MFT workflows and executed as part of a cohesive process. For instance, a workflow could be defined to retrieve a video file, encrypt the video, and then quickly send the video to a trading partner using the GoFast accelerated file transfer protocol. PeSIT Client The PeSIT Client Module helps meet standards and accepts communications from the European banking industry. GoAnywhere’s PeSIT server can be used alongside our PeSIT Client, which allows for communications initiation. - Think Mutual Bank finds GoAnywhere to be “the Obvious Choice” | GSA
< Case Studies Think Mutual Bank finds GoAnywhere to be “the Obvious Choice” Decad es of experience helping Asia-Pacific customers have established Generic Systems Australia as our region’s local experts in secure managed file transfer. In this case study, we share how GoAnywhere MFT , the world’s leading MFT solution , solved a US bank’s need to integrate with its external partners’ IT systems – extra fast! Think Mutual Bank, located in the US’s sprawling midwest, was searching for a way to transfer data between disparate banking systems. Although their core system runs on the IBMi, much of their broader business banking ecosystem runs on MS SQL. Getting all the data into the one place - their IBMi - then copying updated files back to the MS SQL system, was a daily challenge. Van Sy, Lead Systems Administrator at Think Mutual Bank, was tasked with finding a PCI DSS compliant solution – fast! Finding the Right Fit – Fast! Although Think Mutual Bank had a product that performed some of the functions they needed, Sy began a search for a product which offered greater functionality, and which could be implemented in the short timeframe he’d been given. As Sy explained: “We own another product that has some FTP functionality, but it doesn’t have the data push that we wanted. We wanted to be able to copy just certain fields from a SQL database over to the IBM i, and GoAnywhere does that, all in one package. "Due to our short timeline – literally, we were looking at just a month," he added. "We didn’t want or have time to do any coding ourselves, so GoAnywhere became the obvious choice.” Also key to the project’s success was a product whose technical resource staff were readily on hand to ensure the product was up and running when Think Bank needed it. “The support person I dealt with was very knowledgeable," Sy said. "Every time we had questions, he was there, and it really helped that he was very familiar with the product.” Planning for the Future A year on from the successful installation and transition to GoAnywhere MFT, Sy was planning to extend his use of the solution’s functionality. “We’ve been running GoAnywhere for about a year now, using the database push and the FTP functionality. In the short term, we’ll probably extend it out to other systems than just our business banking side. With GoAnywhere, it’s a secure FTP client, so I’ll be moving some of the older systems over to it.” Added Sy: “Most of the other solutions out there do one or two things, but not the whole package – that’s the reason we went with the GoAnywhere product. It really met all of our specific needs, with the database conversion, the database push and the secure FTP. So far, it’s been really solid.” Previous Next
- Survive the Cyber Security Staff Drought | GSA
< News Survive the Cyber Security Staff Drought 3 Sept 2024 Australian organisations are still struggling to recruit and train sufficient cyber security specialists to keep their valuable data safe. A report by government-funded industry body AustCyber predicted that Australia would need an extra 4800 cyber security workers each year to avoid a significant shortfall by 2030. It warned that the local industry is lagging those of other countries, urging further private sector investment in the area. AustCyber found that 74% of cyber security professionals were being impacted by non-availability of suitably qualified staff. Only 8.8% rated Australia’s cyber security sector as “highly competitive”, while 21% rated the local industry as “not competitive” compared to other global markets. 20% Positions Vacant The Australian Government’s 2023 Skills Priority List shows cyber security roles as among the highest-ranked skills with a national shortage. According to AustCyber, cyber security architects are the most in-demand cyber security role, followed by engineers and analysts. While there were ~51,300 dedicated cyber security workers in Australia last year, a staggering 12,500 jobs had remained vacant. The workforce needs to grow by 66% to reach the total of 85,000 who would be required by 2030. Speaking to The Australian Financial Review earlier this year, the RMIT’s Research Director from the Centre of Cyber Security, Matthew Warren, said: “We cannot run before we walk, and right now the Australian cyber security industry does not have the depth of dedicated, skilled cyber security workers required to strengthen Australia’s security posture against the increasing sophistication, ferocity and prevalence of cyber security threat actors.” AustCyber chief executive Chris Kirk said that cyber security was now a “non-negotiable, impacting every Australian”. Early Education + a Wider Funnel While there’s been a 30% year-on-year growth in the number of people studying cyber security at university, the funnel for future workers needs to be wider for AustCyber’s target to be met. Said Kirk: “We really need to get cyber into the education system quite early, like primary school. And, at the speed of which the industry moves, your skill set can be severely challenged very quickly. So it’s extremely important we upskill and keep globally relevant the professionals in these jobs.” Surviving Staff Shortfalls Organisations struggling to recruit cyber security specialists should consider how automation can augment and relieve the load being carried by their existing cyber security specialists. For example, advanced Managed File Transfer solutions, such as GoAnywhere MFT , can centrally manage and secure file transfers organisation-wide. - Keeping Ahead of Competition in Commercial Real Estate | GSA
< Case Studies Keeping Ahead of Competition in Commercial Real Estate Decades of experience helping Asia-Pacific customers have established Generic Systems Australia as our region’s local experts in secure managed file transfer. In this case study, we share the many ways in which an international commercial real estate firm leverages the flexibility of GoAnywhere MFT . One commercial real estate company has a mission to redefine their industry with long-term investments in people and technology that deliver actionable insights and create the best customer experience. They’ve also made it their mission to ensure any data they’re transferring is transferred securely. This corporation is an industry-leading commercial real estate company that offers a robust suite of services to its multifamily and commercial property clients. They offer services in commercial real estate investment sales, mortgage banking, and mortgage servicing. They now operate worldwide, have over 1,000 employees, and have closed billions of dollars in production volume. GoAnywhere MFT plays a key role in their success. Retiring REST A Senior Engineer provided some insight into the company’s three-year usage of GoAnywhere. Originally, when they needed to wire SFTP files to the bank, they used a homegrown tool, built internally and solely for the purpose of SFTP transfers to wire payments. However, because processes were taking too much time, they decided to look elsewhere for a better solution. What they found exceeded their original expectations. Prior to implementing GoAnywhere MFT, the process of keeping data consistent was a challenge. Stated the Senior Engineer: “Before GoAnywhere, we used the same REST call and put data in the SQL Server, but I was having a hard time with Windows vs. AWS and Azure and getting the same data repeatedly.” With GoAnywhere, Windows can grab data easily and consistently. Daily Deliveries Once the Senior Engineer learned the product, which didn’t take long, they were an expert in GoAnywhere. Now, more than 1,715 jobs are run each day. Most of the file transfers are B2B, moving from the company to a financial institution of some sort. “We wanted something that could go to a database seamlessly. We must get files to the bank in a very timely matter. Every wire file goes to the Federal Reserve and must get a Federal Reserve number before it can be funded to the bank. That all takes time. You don’t want to be at a standstill at 5:00 pm on a Friday trying to figure out why you can’t get a wire file to a bank! They’re funding loans that are $40 million!” Now the Senior Engineer can set up new transfers in just two minutes once they have all the information and can execute transfers in 10 seconds. If it clears, transfers start and stop in about one second! “Currently, we have 63 projects running in the GoAnywhere scheduler. We started with 15 and it has grown from there.” Mortgage Rate Magic Aside from the daily deliveries, the company also utilises GoAnywhere to stay one step ahead of their competition and offering the best mortgage rates possible. Mortgage rates update every minute. Because the company is committed to offering the best interest rate in the steep pool of competition, they avoid offering one single rate per day, as some of their competitors do. It’s especially important for them to pull the data in real time because even a couple of points in an interest rate change can make a big difference. GoAnywhere MFT helps the company’s competitive edge thrive and delivers an advantage by allowing real-time interest rate comparison. “We use MFT to get the latest mortgage rates available,” the Senior Engineer said. “We have several applications that use these rates. Each time you pull the rates, it costs money. Instead of having each application pull rates, we have MFT make a REST call to grab the rates and push them into a SQL Server, for all of our on-premises dotnet applications to use.” All applications that need the updated rates call the SQL Server to get the rates in real time. From there on, the rates are formatted into a JSON file and sent to AWS, where the rest of their cloud-based apps can use them. All applications have the same data source that is updated at the same time; therefore, they only need one outbound call to grab the rates. All the apps in the AWS environment can also get the necessary rates at the exact same time. It doesn’t matter which application connects; it should get the same rate. Exceeding Expectations Among transferring files securely, upgrades and updates for GoAnywhere MFT have served as an additional, yet unexpected benefit for the company. They have been easy to complete, and the Senior Engineer was able to successfully conduct their company’s annual disaster recovery (DR) test without fail. Overall, the Senior organization is very satisfied with their experience using GoAnywhere MFT. At this commercial real estate company, GoAnywhere’s flexibility is exploited for a great many time-saving projects, allowing valuable staff and system time to be directed to other areas. Although the company is typically using GoAnywhere MFT to transfer daily B2B files to financial institutions and provide competitive mortgage rates to their clients, their Senior Engineer said they often find new ways to leverage the product. “In meetings when someone has an idea, or has been doing something manually repeatedly, I know that GoAnywhere can take care of it and do what’s being requested. I always say, ‘We can do that! They can do this!’” Previous Next

- Global Insurer Uses GoAnywhere to Replace Legacy File Transfers | GSA
< Case Studies Global Insurer Uses GoAnywhere to Replace Legacy File Transfers Instead of copying and piecing together scripts for file transfers - a process which took 30-60 minutes per script – this global insurance company now uses GoAnywhere to automate and make secure its file transfer task in less than five minutes. Discovering the many other ways they could leverage GoAnywhere’s advanced features was a bonus. Decades of experience helping Asia-Pacific customers have established Generic Systems Australia as our region’s local experts in secure managed file transfer. In this case study, we share how a global insurance company is saving time and money – and avoiding headaches – by using GoAnywhere MFT , the world’s leading MFT solution . For one global insurance company, having file transfer processes that work seamlessly is non-negotiable. Between needing to share data with the company’s national office, running a collaboration with a car rental company, and catering to more than a million customers, they need their file transfers to run smoothly and securely. However, the legacy systems and processes they had in place prior to 2018 were frustrating, to say the least. One of the company’s applications engineers couldn’t believe the file transfer processes they had to deal with before switching to managed file transfer software. "We had a server where a bunch of batch scripts ran and transferred files to vendors," he said. "We wrote manual scripts — 50 or 60 of them — that all ran from Task Scheduler." Because their setup lacked security and encryption features, critical information wasn’t always protected during batch transfers. Their setup didn’t have alerting or reporting abilities either. It quickly became clear that better cybersecurity strategies were needed to protect their file transfers. Convoluted Clustering The engineer’s team also wanted to cluster their systems, so the bank files they exchanged wouldn’t be interrupted by system failure or downtime. But making Task Scheduler cluster aware required knowledge of PowerShell. "It was this huge, long convoluted process," he said. "And with security in mind, we had to implement a DMZ secure gateway server to go along with a new file transfer server. Jobs would have to be scheduled on two different sets of task schedulers." The design files they created to make clustering work were crazy. There had to be an easier way. Back to Basics For this insurance company, it was time to unravel their processes and systems and go back to the basics that mattered: encryption, automation, alerting, and reporting. If they could find a solution that did all these things simply and efficiently… that would be a win. And win they did. After evaluating several managed file transfer (MFT) solutions, the engineer tried GoAnywhere MFT, the class-leading cybersecurity solution. More than Transfers The engineer and his team discovered many additional benefits during their trial of GoAnywhere: Ease of Use: GoAnywhere was powerful but not overly technical. The software was a breeze to install and easy to use. Focused on What Matters: The team was pleased to see GoAnywhere support extra functionality, like user-to-user collaboration, but even more pleased to find that GoAnywhere never lost sight of their bread-and-butter requirements: automation, auditing, and secure file transfers. Out-of-the-Box Project Designers: GoAnywhere included a drag-and-drop project designer for workflows and automation. This eliminated the need for scripting and programming. Affordability: Finally, the cost beat out the competition. GoAnywhere offered the insurance company a positive ROI that they could achieve quickly and efficiently with less of a learning curve—while still boasting all the features and functionality of other comparable solutions. A Fresh Start with MFT Once GoAnywhere was fully implemented, the global insurance company couldn’t imagine life without it. Now they meet requirements and complete key projects via several of GoAnywhere’s features: PCI DSS Compliance: The insurance company is PCI DSS certified. To ensure their member information is protected as much as possible, they are required to go above and beyond PCI DSS requirements to ensure their file transfers are compliant. GoAnywhere MFT supports PCI DSS compliance efforts through encryption, secure, industry-standard file transfer protocols, access controls for sensitive data, and detailed logging/reporting. Google Integration: After implementing GoAnywhere, the insurance company installed GoAnywhere’s Google Cloud Storage Connector. This cloud integration allows them to pull data from the cloud from two vendors they’ve partnered with. Each month, GoAnywhere transfers a file generated in-house to a Google storage bucket. Once the files are in the bucket, two of their vendors apply logic to the data for marketing purposes. The file finishes processing using the Google compute engine before GoAnywhere pulls the file back into the company’s enterprise data warehouse (EDW) system. AWS Integration: GoAnywhere’s Amazon AWS integration fulfills an important project in their environment. "We’ve used [the Amazon AWS integration] since day one," explained the company’s engineer. "It was one of the selling features for us." Improved Visibility & Centralisation Before GoAnywhere came into the picture, the engineer and a co-worker relied on Task Scheduler and batch file transfers to send and retrieve sensitive data. Their legacy setup did not have alerting, notifications, or reporting functionality. They’d need to spend precious time tracking down issues or digging into different data sources to regain some visibility. This lack of clarity was a source of frustration. A big selling point for this insurance company was GoAnywhere’s ability to provide visibility into all areas of their file transfer processes, including the data movement happening on-premises, within their cloud environment, and to their web applications. Not only does this visibility help the engineer’s team know when and where files are sent, it gives them flexibility to train new employees if needed. "Say I need more help and we’re hiring someone else," he explained. "I can say [to that new hire,] ‘Everything’s in GoAnywhere. All our jobs, anything that’s incoming, all the users. You can see who has access, you can see the agents we have deployed and what they’re doing.’ Having that [data] in a central place is just so much easier than what we’ve used in the past." Remote MFT Agents GoAnywhere’s MFT Agents module allows admins to remotely control automated file transfers and file processing from a central GoAnywhere server. With MFT agents in place, this insurance company has improved its overall security posture. They can move sensitive files between restricted servers without having to rely on insecure methods or window transfers. All of these transfers are automated, secured, and can be audited. Set for Success Instead of copying and piecing together scripts to send new file transfers (a process that took 30-60 minutes per script before), GoAnywhere can create a job in under five minutes. The team has utilised several areas of the software in a short amount of time and have exciting use cases in mind for the future. Of his favourite thing about GoAnywhere, the engineer said: "I love that I’m not on a batch file trying to deduce what’s going on. I can just visualise something [the workflow] and say ‘oh, this is what it needs.’ I can just set up a job and my coworker knows about it because now we get an email notification if it fails... Compared to what we had before, [our file transfer process] is where we need it to be." Previous Next

- Make Email Attachments Safe | GSA
< News Make Email Attachments Safe 3 July 2024 Email attachments continue to be the single biggest threat to your organisation’s cyber security. In 183 million phishing simulations conducted by Proofpoint customers this year, almost one in six recipients of a suspicious phishing email failed to protect their organisation’s valuable data. Employees either clicked a malicious link, performed a bogus password reset, or downloaded malware or ransomware. With such a high and persistent risk of cyber incursion, organisations increasingly require more from their file transfers than standard email attachments can provide. They need a smarter, more reliable way to send files, stay secure, and meet the needs of their clients, compliance mandates, and industry regulations. Managed File Transfer (MFT) future-proofs an organisation’s ability to send and receive files quickly, breaking free of the constraints of email attachments, and maintaining cyber security. Problem: Size Caps Most email applications cap the size of email attachments to 25 MB. That may have been “big enough” a couple of decades ago… but no longer. Now, a single high-resolution image can easily exceed 25Mb. Sending an entire folder typically requires zipping it to condense its contents. However, splitting ZIP files into chunks less than 25Mb is a time-consuming hassle. Problem: Insecure Even when successfully sent, email attachments pose ongoing security risks. They can be forwarded to unintended users. Worse, a single recipient with an infected device can infect the attachment with malware and spread it to others. On top of that, there’s always a possibility that an employee could send an email to the wrong person, or mistakenly send sensitive information outside of their network, causing compliance issues for your organisation. Problem: Indiscriminate If an attachment message originates internally, the protocol to keep sensitive data safe (or how to determine what sensitive data is) is often not widely disseminated or used. Encrypting attachments, one effective mechanism, can be tricky for casual users and implemented inconsistently, undermining its reliability as a whole-of-organisation solution. Problem: Degraded Performance Too many attachments can clog your inbox archive and slow backup processes. Some file types such as DLLs, JARs, and SOs may be completely blocked by email systems, disrupting business processes. Unpacking endless ZIP files also depletes available server resources. GoAnywhere MFT to the Rescue Email attachments have their place. But too often they’re a far from ideal way to move data, failing to provide the efficiency, agility, speed, and protection companies need when sending the files that underpin their business. That’s where GoAnywhere MFT can help. Solution: No Size Limits Providing a secure alternative to emailing files, the Secure Mail module in GoAnywhere MFT enables employees and other authorised users to easily send files. It’s much more secure than traditional email, and doesn’t limit file sizes or types. GoAnywhere not only frees your organisation from file size constraints, it also includes accelerated file transfer technologies which speed files to their destinations. Patented UDP file transfer technology enables even the largest files to be sent without incident from anywhere in the world. GoAnywhere’s MFT agent also helps ensure large batch files get to their destination with auto-resume and integrity checks, ensuring all of your message gets there in one piece, despite any network connectivity issues along the way. And if a network connectivity issue prevents the file being successfully transferred, GoAnywhere’s comprehensive alerts ensure you’ll know immediately. Solution: Secure Encrypted Sends Encryption is built into GoAnywhere. Any files sent are automatically encrypted end-to-end using one of a range of encryption protocols, including Open PGP, SFTP, FTPS, AS2 or AS4, and ZIP with AES. GoAnywhere also enables password protection for the attached downloads in case they are sent to the wrong recipient. Additionally, Secure Folders provide a place where your team can safely collaborate. Solution: Bottleneck Buster Lag, inefficiencies and other performance inhibitors are nullified GoAnywhere’s load balancing . Managed transfers help maximise uptime, and clustering functionality distributes files across your network, so they get there in the fastest time and with the least amount of disruption. Solution: Seamless Integration with Inbound Protection By combining GoAnywhere MFT with Clearswift in our Threat Protection Bundle , organisations can create layered cyber defences which enable their teams to receive and share information securely without impairing their productivity. It seamlessly integrates MFT with advanced threat protection and adaptive data loss prevention to keep your sensitive data secure. Not only does it prevent malware from entering your organisation, it also prevents employees from losing or mishandling data. For example, if an employee knowingly (or unknowingly) attempts to share any files containing malware, those files are sanitised by having the malicious elements automatically removed. The SFT Threat Protection Bundle can also automatically detect and - if you configure it to do so - prevent employees from sharing sensitive information. If you’d like to discuss how your organisation’s file transfers can be made more secure and efficient, please feel welcome to contact me, Bradley Copson (mail to:bradley@gensys.com.au). - Strong Growth in Cyber Security Workforce Projected | GSA
< News Strong Growth in Cyber Security Workforce Projected 6 June 2025 Australian Cyber Network’s recently released State of the Industry 2024 report contains some interesting reading about the composition and qualifications of Australia’s cyber security workforce. Continued Growth, Changing Composition According to ACN, the nation’s cyber security workforce has continued its rapid expansion, reflecting both increased demand for cyber security professionals and the evolving nature of cyber threats. In 2024, it reached 137,453 professionals, up 9% over the previous year. However, within the overall growth, there’s been a shift in how cyber security roles are structured, and the priorities being placed by organisations on different skill sets. For example, 41% of the total roles are dedicated cyber security positions which explicitly require security expertise, and the remaining 59% are related roles, where cyber security is a significant but not exclusive aspect of the jobholder’s responsibilities. Within the dedicated category, 36% require deep technical expertise. These include Cyber Security Engineers, Penetration Testers and Security Architects. This indicates that, while cyber security expertise is becoming more specialised, a growing number of professionals across all sectors are required to integrate security skills. Functionally, the cyber security workforce remains heavily concentrated in Database Administrators and ICT Security Specialist roles (54%), followed by Software and Applications Programming (24%) and ICT Management (22%). Among the roles requiring deep technical expertise, Cyber Security Engineers, Penetration Testers and Developer Programmers dominate, with 81% within the Software and Applications Programmers category. These figures suggest that cyber security remains deeply embedded within the software development and data security domains, reinforcing the importance of integrating security considerations into the early stages of software engineering and IT infrastructure development. Gender Diversity From a gender diversity perspective, Australia’s cyber security workforce remains heavily male-dominated, with only 25% women. However, that’s an 8% increase since 2021, so progress is being made. ACN attribute the improvement to sustained efforts by industry groups, government initiatives and corporate programs, as well as the work of organisations dedicated to fostering a stronger, more connected community for women in cyber security. Workforce Projections ACN projects the cyber security workforce to grow significantly through to 2029, albeit at a reduced rate. By 2029, they expect the total workforce to grow to 193,000 roles, with slightly higher growth in dedicated roles. They believe that, while demand will remain strong, the acceleration seen in previous years may stabilise. Overall, the data reveals that cyber security analysts and engineers are driving the bulk of workforce expansion, highlighting industry demand for both frontline detection and incident response capability as well as technical implementation expertise. Skills Still In High Demand State-by-state forecasts reveal that, while Australia’s cyber security workforce appears sizeable on paper, with many states showing a healthy current supply of workers including jobseekers, supply is not keeping pace with projected demand. Across most jurisdictions, the number of workers per vacant job is steadily declining, signalling increased pressure on talent pipelines. States like Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia, despite having the largest supply pools, will still show significant tightening in their job markets by 2029. South Australia and Queensland, with some of the highest worker-to-job ratios today, are projected to see those gaps narrow. ACN says this trend underscores the urgent need to build new entry pathways, accelerate training and retain talent, or risk a widening disconnect between workforce availability and industry needs across the country.
