  • Make Your Supply Chain “Digitally Resilient” | GSA

< News Make Your Supply Chain “Digitally Resilient” 28 Apr 2026 With the war in Iran disrupting business supply chains globally, Australian business leaders are increasingly turning their minds to their own supply chain resilience. The shockwaves from geopolitical instability have exposed how fragile global logistics networks can be when data flows are fragmented, manual, or opaque. However, supply chain resilience isn’t just about physical goods moving from A to B. It’s also about the integrity, visibility, and security of the information that orchestrates those movements. MFT for Resilience Managed File Transfer (MFT) should play a key role in your supply chain resilience. It provides a single, secure backbone for exchanging files between partners, systems, and territories. Instead of relying on ad‑hoc scripts, unsecured email attachments, or legacy FTP servers, MFT enforces encryption, authentication, and auditability across every transfer. When supply chains are under stress, this reliability becomes mission‑critical. MFT enables orders, manifests, compliance documents, and sensor data to continue to flow even as external conditions fluctuate. It adds up to business continuity. Efficiency Beyond security, MFT strengthens resilience through automation and visibility. It can detect failed transfers, retry automatically, and alert teams before disruptions cascade downstream. Dashboards and logs provide real‑time insight into where data is moving and where it’s stuck, allowing leaders to respond proactively rather than reactively. In a crisis, that transparency translates directly into agility. Companies can reroute, prioritise, or throttle data flows with control and confidence. D igital Supply Chains Ultimately, supply chain resilience in 2026 is as much about digital infrastructure as it is about physical logistics. By embedding MFT into their operational fabric, organisations gain a hardened, auditable, and self‑healing data layer that keeps their supply chains synchronised - even when the world isn’t. • Risk Managers declare Cyber Security Top Business Risk for 2026 | GSA

< News Risk Managers declare Cyber Security Top Business Risk for 2026 21 Apr 2026 Cyber incidents are the top global business risk in 2026, according to the 3,338 risk management experts recently surveyed by insurer Allianz. It’s the fifth consecutive year that cyber incidents have dominated risk management concerns. According to the latest Allianz Risk Barometer , 42% of surveyed organisations place cyber at the top of their risk agenda, outpacing all other threats by a substantial margin. And that’s across most major geographies and companies of all sizes. Digital dependency, geopolitical instability, and a rapidly evolving threat landscape are colliding to drive the threat level higher. Digital Reliance Meets Escalating Threats Businesses have never been more reliant on digital systems, cloud platforms, and third‑party providers. While large organisations have made meaningful progress in detection and response capabilities, progress doesn’t equal safety. The corporate attack surface continues to expand, and adversaries are evolving just as quickly. Two forces are accelerating this shift: Third ‑ party concentration risk: Organisations increasingly depend on a small number of cloud, SaaS, and data‑processing providers. Outages or breaches at these providers can ripple across entire industries. AI ‑ enabled cybercrime : Artificial intelligence is now a force multiplier for attackers, enabling faster, more automated, and more sophisticated campaigns. The result is a threat environment where even well‑prepared organisations face heightened exposure. Costly to Succeed – Costlier to Fail The business community is acutely aware of the need to strengthen cyber resilience. Nearly 90% of respondents to the Allianz survey expect to increase their investment in cyber loss prevention, with almost half planning “high” levels of investment. This reflects a clear understanding that the cost of prevention is high, but the cost of failure is far higher. A cyber incident can trigger: Major operational disruption Supply chain paralysis Regulatory penalties Legal exposure Long‑term reputational damage Ransomware: the Most Expensive Threat Ransomware remains the most financially damaging category of cyber incidents. Allianz’s claims data shows that ransomware accounted for 60% of the value of large cyber claims in early 2025. Data theft is also rising sharply, appearing in 40% of major claims during the same period. The ransomware ecosystem has matured into a professionalised criminal industry. Initial access brokers sell entry points into corporate networks, while affiliates execute attacks and negotiate payments. Attackers exploit weak links - supply chains, employees, outdated systems - and leverage business interruption to maximise pressure. Supply Chain Shockwaves Normalised One of the most striking trends of the past year is the scale of supply chain disruption caused by cyber incidents. A single attack can immobilise thousands of interconnected organisations. A notable example is the ransomware attack that halted production at Jaguar Land Rover. The incident affected more than 5,000 organisations and contributed to a measurable decline in UK manufacturing output and GDP. It illustrates a harsh reality: even companies not directly targeted can suffer severe consequences when a key supplier or customer is compromised. Outages and Human Error Not all disruptions stem from malicious activity. Technical failures, misconfigurations, and human error are increasingly contributing to major outages. In 2024, non‑attack incidents accounted for a record 28% of large cyber claims. With most companies relying heavily on cloud services - and with three providers controlling the majority of global cloud infrastructure - the systemic risk is clear. Bumpier Road Ahead Cyber risk isn’t simply persisting; it’s intensifying. As digital ecosystems grow more complex and attackers adopt AI‑driven tactics, organisations must rethink resilience, diversify dependencies, and strengthen governance. The message from the 2026 Allianz Risk Barometer is unmistakable: cyber is no longer just an IT issue – it’s the defining business risk of the decade. MFT: a Strategic Shield One of the most powerful tools in the cyber security arsenal is Managed File Transfer (MFT). Unlike ad hoc file sharing methods such as email attachments, cloud drives, or FTP, leading MFTs such as GoAnywhere MFT provide a secure, auditable, and policy-driven framework for exchanging sensitive data. End-to-End Encryption : MFT platforms encrypt data both in transit and at rest, ensuring that even if intercepted, the contents remain unreadable to unauthorised persons. Access Control and Authentication : Granular permissions, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access prevent unauthorised users from accessing or manipulating files. Automated Workflows and Monitoring : MFT systems can automate file transfers with built-in logging and alerts, reducing human error and enabling rapid detection of anomalies. Compliance and Audit Trails : MFT solutions often include detailed audit logs and compliance reporting features, helping organisations meet regulatory requirements and demonstrate due diligence in the event of an incident. Reduced Shadow IT : By centralising file transfers within a secure platform, MFT reduces the risk of employees using unapproved tools that bypass corporate security controls. • How GoAnywhere prevented a Customer’s SAP budget blowout | GSA

< News How GoAnywhere prevented a Customer’s SAP budget blowout 13 Aug 2025 Confronted by the prospect of a crippling increase in cloud data storage costs, one of our customers leveraged GoAnywhere to help manage the archiving of their data in a far more cost-effective way. Here’s what happened… Extensive ERP Data Our customer is responsible for the reliable distribution of a vital consumer service across some of the most populous regions of Australia. Due to their critical role, they’re required by government to maintain stringent auditing and record keeping across their organisation. The organisation has moved its enterprise resource planning to an outsourced cloud-based SAP system. Over time, that system has consumed and generated many terabytes of data in archived interface files - all of which have needed to be safely retained for audit purposes. The Tier Trap Now, the service provider for the cloud SAP system allows for a fixed amount of cloud data storage as part of their service agreements. But our client’s data was quickly consuming that allowance - and about to go over. That would trigger contract negotiations for expensive additional cloud data storage. Our client needed to quickly find a way to automatically archive their data at a lower cost. Fortunately, their prior investment in a GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer (MFT) solution was about to pay off for them (again!) GoAnywhere Saves the Day One of the capabilities that makes GoAnywhere the world’s leading Managed File Transfer solution is its advanced automation. A simple drag-and-drop interface enables administrators to define how an organisation’s files are monitored, translated, and securely and reliably moved between internal IT systems and those of their supply chain partners and customers. GoAnywhere’s modular approach to defining file transfer processes is simple and intuitive – no programming experience required. Our customer was able to quickly define a new “archive SAP data” process in GoAnywhere which bypassed their reliance on the expensive default cloud storage service. Now, on a set schedule, GoAnywhere routinely searches for files which have been sent to, or originated from, the SAP system. It then automatically, reliably and securely archives those files to inexpensive Azure Blob storage. No human intervention is necessary. Audit trails are being automatically created. And significant incremental storage costs are being avoided. Here For You, Too At Generic Systems Australia , we’re Australia and New Zealand’s experts in helping businesses take advantage of GoAnywhere’s many capabilities. We’ve assisted hundreds of organisations to automate their data flows, making their file transfers secure, reliable and efficient, boosting their efficiency. I’m always happy to have an obligation-free chat and explain how easily we can transition you from your current approach to a new world of productivity. • Data Tsunami as Black Friday Sales Surge | GSA

< News Data Tsunami as Black Friday Sales Surge 10 Nov 2025 Data transfer traffic has already begun to surge across Australia ahead of this month’s highly-anticipated Black Friday sales event. Now the biggest sales splurge by Australians annually, Black Friday bargains are expected to generate a record $6.8B before they wind up on December 1. Adding to the momentum this year is consumer confusion over the start date (technically, November 28, the Friday after the American Thanksgiving holiday) and savvy retailers who are getting in early offering bargains. Data Transfer Tsunami The surge in sales will in turn create a tsunami of data transfers, as businesses transact, process orders, and share e-commerce files with their supply chain partners. For some businesses – those still using outdated file sharing technologies like email and FTP – this will be a hugely stressful period. They’ll need to be hyper vigilant for lost orders, failed file transfers, and man-in-the-middle hack attacks. Other businesses - those taking advantage of modern, automated file transfer technologies such as Managed File Transfer (MFT) - will weather the data tsunami with ease. MFT will comprehensively address the risks and challenges of moving information, both within their organisation, and with external suppliers, partners and customers. Through centralised control, encryption, automation and auditing, MFT will provide the security, efficiency, reliability and scalability that FTP and email never could. “Cyber Trust” Consumer trust in retailers’ e-commerce transactions will be an even more important factor in eventual sales numbers this year. High profile hacks of consumer data over the past 12 months are leading consumers to question the security of a company’s systems before handing over credit card and other information. Companies will need to be able to provide reassurance – and proof – that transactions and personal data will be secure. Companies with MFT will be better able to provide that reassurance, keeping a clean history as responsible guardians of customer data. Surf the Tsunami At Generic Systems Australia , we’re Australia’s and New Zealand’s experts in deploying MFT solutions. We routinely help retailers and their supply chain partners effortlessly stay on top of their file transfers, seamlessly scaling up to meet the heightened demands of sales surges like Black Friday, Boxing Day and the like. If you’d like to discuss how we can help you, please feel welcome to contact me . I’m always happy to have an obligation-free chat and explain how simply we can level up your file transfer approaches. I can even arrange a simple, zero-cost Proof of Concept. Previous Next

  • MEETING CDR OBLIGATIONS | GSA

Australia’s Consumer Data Right (CDR) requires businesses to carefully plan how they handle, store and disclose the consumer data they collect. This primer explains your obligations, the breaches that can occur, and a strategy to avoid them. Meeting Your Business’s CDR Obligations Australia’s Consumer Data Right (CDR) requires businesses to carefully plan how they handle, store and disclose the consumer data they collect. The CDR provides individuals with the right to access their personal information, and the right of data portability found in the European General Data Protection Right (GDPR). An economy-wide program, it was launched in 2020, and is presently being rolled out sector by sector. CDR enables consumers to safely and conveniently elect to share data about them, held by data holders, with accredited providers. The government’s aim with the program is to make it easier for consumers to compare products and services, access better value and improved services, and assist financial management. Phased Rollout CDR has already been rolled out to the banking and energy sectors. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and co-regulator the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner are responsible for ensuring accredited providers and data holders comply with their CDR obligations. As companies and consumers have greater access to data, and more data files are being transferred than ever before, greater safeguards to protect this data are required. Regulators are deploying a range of tools to monitor and access the available information to ensure consumers have their data security and integrity in place. Their stated goal is to prevent breaches of the CDR’s obligation through compliance management and enforcement. Business Impact Businesses need to consider how they handle the data they collect, including how that data is harvested, stored, used and disclosed, and how it will make consumer data available to its customers and their nominated recipients when requested to do so. Special care of internal systems, processes and compliance is required to prevent breaches. Examples of CDR breaches include: Repeated refusal to disclose consumer data Misleading or deceptive conduct Data collection without valid consent Intentional use or disclosure of data inconsistent with consumer consent Insufficient security controls to protect CDR data Complying with the CDR Businesses under the CDR protocols should consider: Reviewing their policies and processes for privacy and data handling Training staff on their CDR obligations and how to manage the risks involved with handling consumer data Establishing breach notification procedures One way to ensure files are kept secure both at rest and while in transit is to incorporate a managed file transfer system, like GoAnywhere MFT. This secure, automatic software can protect data by: Controlling access to files and data Encrypting data Establishing the correct security settings when sending and/or receiving highly confidential emails Providing automated audits, reports and logs showing who accessed which data, who it was transmitted to, etc. GoAnywhere can also enhance business efficiency be replacing the myriad of legacy manual approaches for file sharing that can proliferate across businesses over time. Further consumer-oriented resources on CDR are available from the Australia Government’s website . RESOURCES HOME
